“Joining Summer Academy was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made. This is by far one of the best summers I have ever had. I encourage everyone to consider doing this program because believe me, you will not regret it! The people, the atmosphere, the activities… everything is just fantastic. GO HOKIES!”

“Amazing program, with amazing people. I miss it already!”

“Summer Academy is great! Both of my girls participated and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great way to start college life taking two classes, getting used to dorm life ahead of the entire freshman class, and making lots of new friends! The summer academy group also goes to Hokie Camp together. Summer Academy's orientation is an abridged form of parent orientation, but includes everything you need to know. I'd highly recommend it!

“Summer Academy is so much more than traditional “summer school” that it becomes a part of you. It brought me my closest friends and it also taught me how to tackle college-level courses. Without Summer Academy, I wouldn’t be who I am today.”
—Elisabeth Moore, 2016 Peer Mentor

“I loved my experience in Summer Academy so much that I knew I wanted to come back as a peer mentor before Summer Academy was even over. I just hope other incoming Hokies do Summer Academy so they can have as great of an experience as I did.”
—Yonatan Ayele, 2016 Peer Mentor

“This past summer I did Summer Academy and to say the least, it changed my life. My peer mentor made the transition from a class of about 350 students to an incoming class of 6,000 easy.”
—Rachel Mydosh, 2016 Peer Mentor

“I loved getting to meet new people my age. I knew I would be surrounded by freshmen, but I was still able to connect with my fellow transfers. I think it was helpful that I was able to gain a little more understanding of what VT life is like."

“Summer Academy was very busy, but a good experience because I learned to adapt to a fast-paced curriculum. The experience I have gained from writing two to three engineering papers a week has definitely been helpful.”

“Hokie Camp was my favorite part. I went in with a sour attitude against it, but the whole experience was so enlightening to see all the Hokie spirit come out. It's so motivating to be a Hokie and live Ut Prosim to its fullest potential. I seriously felt like I could save the world after Hokie Camp.”

“My favorite part of Summer Academy was definitely the people I have met. Most of my friends are in Galileo and Hypatia, which I am going to be attending as well. Being from an extremely rural area, the amount of stores and places to go that are this closeby is awesome, also the vibe at Virginia Tech is very positive.”
